RGC Phoenix in full swing
Yesterday at Bellair was a glowing example of what an event like this can do for golfers and for golf as a whole. Firstly, thanks to Brett for organizing, he is a total natural when it comes to leading a massive group while keeping it as laid back, inclusive, and organized as a giant scramble can hope to be. He set the precedent by invoking rule 17b in the first tee box, then rallied us to be as inviting and supportive of new or nervous golfers as possible. Secondly, thanks to the guys at Bellair Golf Park, who made this group feel particularly welcome at the course, we even had our own beverage cart following us for the whole round! Lastly, thank you EAL and Random Golf Club for making this possible. Thanks to you, I played the single most enjoyable, inclusive, and upbeat round of golf of my life. It was an eclectic group out there with people at all skill levels, from individuals with disabilities walking a course for the FIRST TIME to a golf coach playing with some of his family and students. Despite our innumerable differences, together we smiled, laughed, and held our collective breath any time a shot looked especially promising. Lastly, let’s not forget the dogs. They helped chase away geese from the fairways and added a heaping dose of cuteness to the event. Thank you to the dogs.
See you at the next RGC event,
Spencer
